MA Project

Exhibition Proposal

Because of corona virus pandemic the MA show got canceled.

Thus the next image is a plan of how the MA project could have been exhibited. It is a curatorial outline of my project. The audience would enter the room in which they would find themselves surrounded by cardboard figures that have escaped the two dimensional surface of the canvas. Rooms lighting must be adjusted in order to showcase the artworks equally, because of the juxtaposition of the pieces in layers.

The whole concept of this presentation is based on how the curiosity cabinets presented their showpieces. All different narratives are mixed, creating a bigger one. Anonymous characters and eponymous figures participate in a new narrative, blended between reality and imagination. My goal is to make the viewer feel disoriented, like if he or she is trapped in another dimension. The exhibition pace must be spacious and with whit clean walls because all of my pieces have a lot of details and can be overwhelming for the viewer.

Ideas that never came to life

From March to August of 2020 lockdown changed drastically our reality. Daily life changed completely hence the art I created during this period changed. In these next galleries I exhibit the sketches, produced whenever I had the motivation to draw. I didn’t had the luxury to make big scale paintings with color, cardboard life size figures, or to experiment with materials . My creativity was constrained to just the bare bones of my materials: Paper, ink and pencil. However these sketches are glimpses of the ideas that probably would be part of my MA project, and personally I think they mustn’t be neglected.

Life on the Bed

This is a series of sketches or rather annotations based on the covid-19 pandemic. Sleeping and spending day and night on bed during quarantine became the daily routine for many people. My characters capture the feeling of loneliness that many of us went through during this time. Bedrooms transformed into the space where we  were working, reading, eating and sleeping they were the manifestation of containment in which we had to be in.
